One such offering was the sale to the public of Allstate Insurance Company which was, at the time, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/archives\/la-xpm-1993-06-03-fi-43025-story.html\">largest initial public offering of stock in United States history<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2004, Dimitri joined one of Canada\u2019s leading class action law firms,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.siskinds.com\/class-actions\/securities\/\">Siskinds LLP<\/a>. While at Siskinds, Dimitri co-founded and led Canada\u2019s largest and most accomplished team of securities class action lawyers. From 2004 to 2016, the Siskinds securities class actions team recovered more than $450 million for aggrieved investors.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, Dimitri was named by\u00a0<em>Canadian Lawyer Magazine<\/em>\u00a0as one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadianlawyermag.com\/surveys-reports\/top-25-most-influential-lawyers\/the-top-25-most-influential-2012\/268680\">25 most influential lawyers in Canada<\/a>, and in 2013, he was named by\u00a0<em>Canadian Business Magazine<\/em>\u00a0as one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lfpress.com\/2013\/09\/23\/business-buzz-sept-24\/wcm\/61daca3b-b325-ee57-0d58-d3038ecce83c\">50 most influential persons<\/a>\u00a0in Canadian business.\u00a0<em>Canadian Business Magazine<\/em>\u00a0described Dimitri as the \u201cfiercest legal advocate for shareholder rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In July 2016, Dimitri retired from Siskinds in order to devote himself to journalism, activism and\u00a0<em>pro bono<\/em>\u00a0legal work. He has been a correspondent of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/therealnews.com\/bios\/dimitri-lascaris\">The Real News Network<\/a>\u00a0and is currently a member of its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/therealnews.com\/about\/board-of-directors\">Board of Directors<\/a>, along with well-known members of the progressive community, including actor\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newstatesman.com\/north-america\/2012\/01\/glover-taking-actor-campaigner\">Danny Glover<\/a>\u00a0and film-maker\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robert_Lang_(producer)\">Robert Lang<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dimitri has served on the Boards of numerous other public-interest, not-for-profit corporations, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unityproject.ca\/\">The Unity Project for the Relief of Homelessness<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.probonoontario.org\/\">Pro Bono Ontario<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto350.org\/\">Toronto350<\/a>. \u00a0In 2014, Dimitri\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto350.org\/divest\">presented<\/a>\u00a0Toronto350\u2019s fossil fuels divestment petition to the President of the University of Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>In Canada\u2019s 2015 federal election, Dimitri ran for the Green Party of Canada in the riding of London West. Subsequently, he served as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenparty.ca\/en\/media-release\/2016-03-20\/green-party-canada-welcomes-dimitri-lascaris-justice-critic\">Justice Critic<\/a>\u00a0in the Shadow Cabinet of the Green Party of Canada and as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pvq.qc.ca\/dimitri_lascaris_cf\">Justice Critic<\/a>\u00a0in the Shadow Cabinet of the Green Party of Quebec (PVQ). In 2018, he was elected to be a member of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pvq.qc.ca\/executif_national\">PVQ\u2019s Executive Committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2020, Dimitri announced his candidacy for the leadership of the Green Party of Canada.
