FROM IRAN: The Voices of Mourners Rarely Heard in the Media

8. July 2026

In this report from Tehran, human-rights lawyer Dimitri Lascaris speaks with Iranian mourners who came to the Great Musalla Mosque to take part in the seven-day mourning program for Iran’s assassinated Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

After the morning prayer, where huge crowds had gathered, Lascaris asked people on the ground why they came, how they view the United States and Israel, and whether Iran should still negotiate with Washington after the war.

A report from Iran with images and voices that are rarely heard in the media.
