FROM IRAN: Why the West Will Lose

In his final report from Iran, human rights lawyer and journalist Dimitri Lascaris examines the escalation between Washington and Tehran. The starting point is an ultimatum from the Trump administration: according to Axios, Iran must open the Strait of Hormuz, give up control over transit, and pledge not to attack ships attempting to pass without Iranian military approval — or face “hard consequences.”

He explains why he traveled to Iran at this moment, what he observed during the mourning ceremonies and conversations on the ground — and why he believes Western governments are fundamentally underestimating Iran’s determination, resilience, and strategic position. He closes with footage from the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad and the former home of Iran’s assassinated Supreme Leader, Imam Ali Khamenei.
