From France: Protests Banned – Europe’s Path to Repression

In this video, human rights lawyer and journalist Dimitri Lascaris reports directly from Lyon, where authorities temporarily banned all demonstrations. Only weeks earlier, Lascaris had experienced a similar protest ban in Athens, where he was detained by police for several hours.

What is driving these measures — and why are they appearing at a time of growing social and political tension? Lascaris examines the protests in France, the economic pressures facing ordinary people, and the increasing restrictions on basic civil liberties. Are the events in France and Greece isolated cases — or do they point to a broader shift taking place across Europe?
