American-Palestinian Doctor Recounts The Horrors He Witnessed In A Gaza Hospital

On Reason2Resist, Dimitri Lascaris spoke with American-Palestinian emergency physician Dr. Dhiaa Daoud. Although Dr. Daoud lives in Florida, his family roots are in Gaza. In early 2024, he travelled to the Gaza Strip to work in the emergency department of the European Hospital, where he observed the conditions on the ground firsthand. After returning to the United States, Dr. Daoud joined the Freedom Flotilla to Gaza. In October 2025, while travelling aboard the humanitarian vessel “The Conscience,” the ship was intercepted by Israeli forces, and Dr. Daoud was detained for several days before being released.

In this interview, Dr. Daoud discusses what he encountered during his time in Gaza, the events surrounding the flotilla, and why he continues to engage in humanitarian efforts related to the region.
