As reports of hunger and ongoing Israeli attacks on the civilian population in Gaza increase, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced that the European Union has suspended its already limited sanctions against Israel for the time being.

In this article, Dimitri Lascaris explains Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement and asks whether this decision by the EU marks a new low for Europe’s political elite—or whether it is symptomatic of the broader failure of Western foreign policy in dealing with this conflict.
