Israel’s Secret Gaza Militias – Gaza Journalist Abubaker Abed Reveals

From the outset of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, 22-year old Palestinian journalist Abubaker Abed reported fearlessly on Israel’s crimes. Several months ago, fearing that Israel would target not only him but his family too, Abubaker made the painful decision to leave the Gaza Strip. He’s now pursuing university studies in a European country.

On October 19, 2025, while Abubaker was in Athens, Greece to meet with local Palestinian solidarity activists, Dimitri Lascaris spoke with him about the colleagues he lost and the dangers he faced. As Abubaker explains, he was one of the first journalists in the Gaza Strip to expose the criminal gangs that looted humanitarian aid and collaborated with Israel.

Dimitri Lascaris is a journalist and lawyer. As a lawyer, he specializes in class action litigation, international law and human rights. He was a member of the shadow cabinets of the Green Parties of Canada and Quebec. In 2020, he ran for the leadership of the Green Party of Canada and came in second. He is also the founder and editor of the YouTube channel Reasons 2 Resists with Dimitri Lascaris.

ABOUT ABUBAKER ABED

Abubaker Abed is a Palestinian journalist and writer from the Deir al-Balah refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. He originally focused on sports commentary and language studies before publishing early pieces on football and culture, but the escalation of conflict in Gaza pushed him into the role of an “accidental war correspondent.” Reporting under extreme danger, he documents destruction, civilian suffering, and systemic violence in his homeland. Despite his young age, Abed reports fluently in English and Arabic and has become one of the most compelling emerging voices from Gaza, bringing international attention to the lived reality of its people through on-the-ground coverage and frontline storytelling.
