In this episode of The Source, we speak with journalist and international law and human rights lawyer Dimitri Lascaris about the recent audio leak on the Taurus cruise missile, also known as the wiretap affair. This leak revealed how high-ranking German air force officers discussed the use of the Taurus cruise missile in Ukraine to attack Russia. This contradicted the public statements of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who had ruled out sending the missile to Ukraine as this could lead to a drastic escalation of the situation and turn Germany into a belligerent. We then examine the significance of a recent New York Times article revealing that the CIA maintained 12 bases in Ukraine near the Russian border prior to the Ukraine war. We analyze the competing accounts of the recent killing of 118 Palestinian civilians, including 760 injured, who were attempting to collect food from aid trucks on al-Rashid Street in Gaza. Finally, we discuss the recent International Court of Justice hearings on Israel’s long-standing occupation of Palestinian territories and find out what outcome to expect.
