ABOUT RAY McGOVERN

Raymond McGovern is a former Central Intelligence Agency employee turned political commentator and activist. During his 27 years as a CIA analyst, he was chief of the Soviet Foreign Policy Division in the 1960s and deputy National Intelligence Officer for Western Europe in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he chaired the National Intelligence Estimates and prepared the President’s Daily Brief. Upon retirement, he received the CIA’s Intelligence Commendation Medal, which he returned in 2006 to protest CIA involvement in torture. In 2003, he co-founded Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS).

Thanks for the excellent work, Zain Raza. I especially appreciate the carefully thought out questions you put to your guests. As a US citizen retired and now living in Germany, I welcome your interviews also because I find the absence of independent-minded journalism in Germany completely unexpected, in fact shocking. I was naive. There may not be many who miss journalism that digs, but as Ray McGovern says here, perhaps the tide will eventually turn. Good luck to you and this site in this regard.

Not sure where to leave this comment. I tried to make a donation, seemed to be given an option between PayPal and debit/credit card, chose the latter, filled in all the information, but then was told I already have a PayPal account. Looked more closely, and saw the PayPal logo at the top of the page. Can’t find any other option after several attempts. I do not want to donate by PayPal. What to do?
