ABOUT GEORGE GALLOWAY

George Galloway wurde in die Labour-Bewegung hineingeboren; sein Vater war ein Gewerkschafter, seine Mutter eine irische Republikanerin. Mit 13 Jahren trat er der Labour Party bei und war lange Zeit der jüngste Abgeordnete der Partei. Mit nur 26 Jahren wurde er zum Vorsitzenden der gesamten Labour Party in Schottland gewählt. Galloway wurde 2003 von Tony Blair aufgrund des Irakkriegs – als dieser noch andauerte – aus der Labour Party ausgeschlossen. Er ist nach wie vor ausgeschlossen und fordert weiterhin seine Wiederaufnahme. Im März 2024 kehrte er triumphal ins Unterhaus von Westminster zurück, nachdem er in der vergangenen Woche einen überwältigenden Nachwahlsieg im Nordwesten Englands errungen hatte, der vor allem auf seinen Widerstand gegen die israelische Bombardierung des Gazastreifens zurückzuführen war.
