Human rights lawyer Dimitri Lascaris examines the agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Trump administration, announced on Sunday, June 14 — at the very moment Tehran was reportedly preparing a massive missile strike on Israel after Israel’s renewed bombing of Beirut crossed Iran’s red lines.

According to Lascaris, Trump appears to have made major last-minute concessions to prevent another devastating Iranian strike against Washington’s proxy. But is this agreement truly a step toward a just and lasting peace in West Asia — or merely a fragile pause before the next escalation?
