Dimitri Lascaris from Moscow: Are the Sanctions Working?

In this video, human rights lawyer and journalist Dimitri Lascaris returns to Russia for the first time since early 2023. He travelled to Moscow to attend the second annual World People’s Assembly.

In his first report from Red Square, Lascaris shares his impressions of Moscow and asks how strongly Western sanctions are actually being felt in everyday life. He also discusses a new, far-reaching sanctions package passed by the U.S. Congress and named after the recently deceased Senator Lindsey Graham. How effective have the sanctions been so far — and what could the next round change?

He was a member of the shadow cabinets of the Green Parties of Canada and Quebec. In 2020, he ran for the leadership of the Green Party of Canada and came in second.
