Fired for Anti-Zionism – Now He Wins in Court

31. August 2026

In this video, investigative journalist and human rights lawyer Dimitri Lascaris speaks with former Professor of Political Sociology David Miller about his years-long legal battle with the University of Bristol. Miller was dismissed in 2021 following controversy over his anti-Zionist statements – but several years later, a British appeals tribunal upheld a decision that could have consequences far beyond his personal case.

What exactly did the court decide about anti-Zionist beliefs – and what could the ruling mean for universities, the IHRA definition of antisemitism and the limits of academic freedom of expression? Lascaris and Miller discuss the extraordinary events behind his dismissal, political pressure on the university and whether this ruling could mark a turning point in Britain’s public debate over Zionism.

This video was produced by Reason2Resist and published on their YouTube channel on the 7th of August, 2026. We have translated it into German and are republishing it today to help build opinion on this issue in Germany and beyond.
