Noam Chomsky – German Weapons Exports to Israel & Saudi Arabia and the Refugee Crisis
In this video MIT professor, anarchist, political philosopher and renowned linguist, Noam Chomsky, discusses the impacts of German arms and weapons exports into Saudi Arabia and Israel. He also talks about the refugee and Syrian crisis that is engulfing neighbouring states as well as the European continent. All of these questions and more are addressed in the video below:
– How does the military industrial complex of Germany affect the security of the populations of the countries in the Arab world?
– Do military and arms exports promote stability in the region?
– What are the roots of the refugee crisis that the European Union as well as neighbouring countries to Syria and Iraq are facing?

Notable excerpts from the video:
Noam Chomsky on Germany’s weapons exports to Israel:
I think they [German weapons exports] harm the security of the population. Take the submarines. These dolphin class submarines that Germany is providing to Israel are instantly refitted in Israel to have nuclear weapons capacity, and that’s not aimed at defense of Israel. Nuclear armed submarines don’t defend Israel. They are meant for attack, that’s what they are. And we know what attack they’re aimed for in the short run: an attack on Iran
Prof. Chomsky on the causes of the refugee crisis:
One of them is the US & British Invasion of Iraq which hit the country like a sledgehammer – horrible effects in the country – killed hundreds of thousands of people destroyed much of the country and among other things set-off/incited a sectarian conflict which had not existed before, and that sectarian was exacerbated by the torture and terror and other atrocities, but that crisis is now tearing Iraq to shreds and is tearing the region to shreds – expanded to Syria and elsewhere. That’s one factor.
Due to limited financial resources, personnel and technical capacities, we plan to release the full interview with Noam Chomsky in a “mini-video” format. As a non-profit & volunteer based organization, this format provides us with sufficient time to coordinate our schedules outside of our occupational commitments and translate the content into multiple languages, subtitle & voice-synchronize it for people with hearing & visual impairment.
Projects that depend on your donations:
acTVism Munic has attained permission from the University of Arizona to translate into multiple languages an event that hosted Edward Snowden, Glenn Greenwald and Noam Chomsky in which they discussed the meaning and significance of privacy. This event took place on the 25th of March, 2016, and was organized by the University of Arizona College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. On the 23rd of April, 2016, acTVism Munich hopes to travel to Hannover to provide a voice to grassroots demonstrations taking place around the Hannover Exhibition which will be attended by US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. These demonstrations are taking a stand against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, also known as TTIP, that Obama and Merkel plan to promote in this exhibition. Lastly, we are attempting to mobilize our volunteers in New York to record an event organized by the New York Public Libary (NYPL) that is hosting Yanis Varoufakis and Noam Chomsky. This event will take place on the 26th of April, 2016, and will discuss the state of democracy in Europe as well as the economic and social problems confronting it. The translation and publishing process depends on you – with your donation we can reach a global audience and create awareness on these topics.
acTVism Munich has very limited financial resources and requires your immediate support to materialize these projects. From transportation, lodging, food, production, translation, and other costs, given our scarce resources, it will be a very difficult task to execute them.
