Interview with Human Rights Watch: Israel committing crimes of apartheid
In this episode of The Source, we interview Yasmine Ahmed, who is the UK Director of Human Rights Watch. We talk about the new report by Human Rights Watch: ‘A Threshold Crossed: Israeli Authorities and the Crimes of Apartheid and Persecution’, which states that Israeli authorities are committing crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution. We examine the main findings of this report, examples of the crimes of apartheid and persecution and how they affect the Palestinian people. Finally, we discuss how the international community has reacted to the escalation of the conflict.

Yasmine Ahmed is the UK Director for Human Rights Watch. Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, she was Executive Director of the multi award winning human rights organisation, Rights and Security International. She has also worked as a lawyer for the UK and Australian Governments and the UN. She has an LLM in Public International Law from the University of London, and has taught public international law at two universities. She also qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales and a barrister and solicitor in Australia.
