In this episode of The Source, we interview historian, journalist and author Vijay Prashad about the latest developments surrounding the Israeli war in Gaza. We begin the interview with a look at the background to the Hamas terror attacks on October 7th. We then look at the 8000 Palestinians in Israeli captivity, including hundreds if not thousands of children, who are now being released as part of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, and on what basis Israel held them in the first place. We examine the actions of regional actors such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Hezbollah and others, and end the interview by asking why the West sanctioned Russia when it annexed Ukrainian territory, but does not do the same with Israel, which has continuously annexed Palestinian territory for over 75 years.
