In this interview, journalist Dimitri Lascaris speaks with John Helmer about the June 2025 U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear sites, Iran’s limited retaliation, and the resulting ceasefire, which Helmer attributes to Israel’s rapidly depleting missile defense capabilities. They discuss Russia’s ambiguous role in the ceasefire, internal divisions within Russian and Iranian leadership, and Vladimir Putin’s cautious stance toward Israel. Helmer also talks about NATO’s increased military spending and Trump’s transactional approach to alliance politics.
