Linsey McGoey is Professor of Sociology, with expertise in social theory and economic sociology. She is recognized internationally for playing a pioneering role in the establishment of ignorance studies, an interdisciplinary field focused on exploring how strategic ignorance and the will to ignore have underpinned economic exchange and political domination throughout history. Her research on ignorance has led to new conceptual frameworks for understanding the political value of ignorance and the unknown.
She is also recognized for work on philanthropic foundations and their role in the global economy. Her book, No Such Thing as a Free Gift: The Gates Foundation and the Price of Philanthropy, is the first book-length analysis of the Gates Foundation’s influence, both negative and positive, on global health and development.

a propos Dämonisierung Bill Gates und Impfstoff gegen Covid 19.
Prof. Mc Goe grenzt sich gegen Verschwörungstheiretiker und Gatesdämonisierer ab.
Sie betrachtet die Geldsummen, die Gatesstiftung im Vergleich zu verschiedenen Regierungen, sprich Steuerzahler, ausgeben und betont, dass die Gesundheistausgaben der Regierungen viel höher sind und anerkennungswürdiger.
Sie setzt voraus, dass Gesundheitsausgaben gleich Gesundheitsförderung sind.
Diese Voraussetzung ist höchst zweifelhaft: Es soll wirklich keinen Konflikt zwischen medizinischer Gesundheitsförderung und pharmazeutischem Unternehmertum geben? Diese Voraussetzung ist doch völlig überflüssig! Wozu schnell ein Urteil über ein Thema fällen, das gar nicht besprochen werden soll?
Bezüglich Impfstoff gegen Covid 19 fühle ich mich von meiner Regierung und Gates zu einem Vorurteil genötigt, nämlich: “Genmanipulation am Menschen sind immer gut – sprich neuartige Impfstoffe wie MRNA-Impfstoffe, die den Menschen genetisch modifizieren, sind die Rettung ohne negative Folgen befürchten zu müssen” Wieso soll ich als ziemlich Unwissende dieses Vorurteil haben – nur um der medizinischen Hightechrettung vor Corona Tor und Tür zu öffnen? Genmanipulationen haben sich bei Pflanzen und Tieren immer als problematisch erwiesen, so allgmein erhältlich Informationen, Genmanipulation am Menschen ist eigentlich tabu – v.a. mit auf 18 Monate verkürzter Erprobungszeit des MRNA-Impfstoffes z.B. von Biontech. Vorurteil ist nicht gleich Unvoreingenommenheit. Wieso üben sich so viele Menschen gerade darin schnell Vorurteile zu vertreten, um sich gegen Verschwörungstheoretiker abzugrenzen? Wodurch das Gebot entsteht, das bestimmte Positionen ohne Begründung und ohne Argumentation als richtig festklopft. Wenn Gates gegenüber schwere Vorwürfe erhoben werden, dann kann sich derjenige, der sich nicht damit auseinandersetzen will (weil er es für abwegig hält), doch des Urteils enthalten, anstatt demonstrativ die richtige nicht verschwörungstheoretische Position zu beziehen. Dasselbe gilt für den Impfstoff gegen Covid 19: Wozu die Unbedenklichkeit und Harmlosigkeit von neuartigen MRNA-Impfstoffen verkünden, nur um bloß kein Impfgegner zu sein? Ist es nicht eigentlich dumm ohne große Auseinandersetzung MRNA-Impfstoffe für harmlos und unbedenklich zu halten? Ich vermisse an dieser Stelle, dass der Konflikt zwischen medizinischer Gesundheitsförderung und unternehmerischer Pharmapraktiken besprochen wird, und ob der Staat eigentlich nicht zu besseren Motivationen als übernationale Philantropie-Stiftungen neigt.
Zwar vermisse ich diese Besprechung, aber ich finde diesen informativen Beitrag unter Auslassung “meiner” vorgeschlagenen Themen, die mich interessieren, auch sehr gut.
